Health Guarantee

The purchase of ANY puppy is subject to the following terms and conditions.

There are several parts to this guarantee. Please read the full Health guarantee and make sure you understand and agree with it completely. If you have any questions, please contact me before signing the Health guarantee.

All puppies sold by Terry’s Two by Two will come with current shots as suggested my my veterinarian, will be wormed, and will have had coccidia and Giardia preventatives. By signing this Health guarantee you agree to the following:

All puppies must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of receiving the puppy.  If the puppy is received on a holiday or on the weekend, then the puppy must be taken to a licensed veterinarian on the following working day for examination. If your regular veterinarian is not available, you are required to take the puppy to another veterinarian unless an agreement is made between the buyer and Terry’s Two By Two. A copy of the exam must be mailed, faxed or sent as an e-mail attachment to me within 1 week of the arrival date of the puppy for the Health guarantee to be valid. You are responsible to make sure I received the copy of the exam. The health guarantee starts as soon as you have received your puppy. No puppy will be replaced that fails to have the proper veterinary care starting with the first vet check that has to take place within 72 hours. The puppy must be kept up to date on all shots, wormer,  flea / tick medicine, and heart worm preventive  as suggested by your veterinarian.  The buyer is responsible for all medical cost for the puppy once the puppy is with the buyer.

14 DAY GUARANTEE

If within 14 days, the puppy dies from Distemper, Parvo, or any other disease that should have been covered by the puppy vaccines given as directed by my veterinarian, you would receive another puppy of your choosing or a full refund on the price paid for the puppy excluding any cost for shipping or other items. An autopsy report would need to be filled out from the licensed veterinarian detailing the cause of death as being from one of the diseases that a Parvo / Combination puppy shot should prevent. As of this time, after 8 years of raising puppies, I have never had this happen.

PLEASE NOTE: Even though I give a Kennel cough vaccine, I cannot guarantee against the puppy getting "Kennel Cough". The inoculation for this is given to every puppy at 4 to 6 weeks old, and even though it helps keep the puppy from Kennel Cough, it is not guaranteed to prevent Kennel Cough in 100% of all puppies. I suggest that you speak to your veterinarian about a Kennel Cough booster as soon as you take him or her to the first veterinarian appointment. I have been told by my veterinarian that a booster at around 12 weeks old, then yearly will help with the likely hood of your puppy staying clear of the Kennel Cough virus.  Kennel Cough can be caught by a puppy or dog anytime it is around another puppy or dog who might have it. It is very contagious and even at puppy training classes or taking your puppy to a pet store where there have been other dogs walking around, there is the possibility of your puppy or dog being exposed to it. There are also some very common parasites found in most all dogs - the number one being Coccidia, which is one of the most common parasites found in most all dogs. Because this parasite is so common to dogs and puppies, I cannot guarantee that even with my preventative measures, the puppy will not have or get this parasite shortly after arriving at your home. Giardia is another common parasite that can cause the puppy some minor illness. I also use a preventative medication for Giardia, but again can not 100% guarantee that your puppy will not come down with this. Coccidia and Giardia are both easily treated with antibiotics.  Stress, including the stress of a move can tend to bring out problems from this or other parasites that might not normally show up if they were not having any stress. Even the happiest looking puppy can have some stress that will not tend to show by their actions. In order to keep the puppy healthy, it is necessary for you to keep your scheduled veterinarian appointments, and to follow my instructions for the care of the puppy upon taking him or her home and complete the scheduled series of inoculations ON TIME. This has to be done in order to protect the puppy and for the health guarantee to remain valid. Until the timetable for the shots has been completed (around 16 weeks of age) the puppy should NOT be exposed to contaminated areas or to unhealthy animals. It should not hurt the puppy to be around other dogs or puppies who have all shots current.

1 YEAR GUARANTEE AGAINST CONGENITAL DEFECTS

If within the first year puppy develops a condition that dates back to the fetal stage – being a congenital condition and this condition severely impacts the quality of life of the puppy or you would need to have the puppy put to sleep; you will receive a replacement puppy. Normally any congenital condition will show up before the puppy is 1 year old. In 8 years of breeding, I’ve only had this happen once. The veterinarian that found the defect in the affected puppy assured me it was not hereditary and that once in a while you will just have a “quirk” of nature that causes a serious problem that is no one’s fault.  If this does happen, and the puppy has to be euthanized, I will need to be notified before this is done. Unless x-rays or specialized test have been taken to prove the congenital problem, an autopsy will be required to be done on the puppy to prove the congenital problem.  The buyer may do this at their veterinarian’s office or the buyer may send the puppy to my veterinarian to have this done. The buyer is be responsible for all vet cost charged by his or her own veterinarian or for the shipping of the original puppy to my vet for the autopsy.  If sent to my veterinarian, I will pay for the autopsy.

There are some instances that a health problem can be caused by either genetics or by the puppy's environment. In a case such as this, there has to be proof that the environment didn't cause the health problem in the puppy and that it could only be due to a genetic trait.

There are certain disorders and issues that can arise that may be caused by improper diet, environmental factors, and Stress. Since these factors cannot be controlled by me, the breeder, the buyer is responsible for all cost that arise due to these circumstances. All medical or any financial issues incurred by the puppy in this contract are the sole responsibility of the new owner from the date the puppy arrives at his or her new home. There are no acceptations to this for any reason.  Terry’s two by Two is not responsible for any vet or medical bills or financial bills that are incurred by the puppy from the date the puppy arrives at his or her new home.

This warranty is VOID if puppy is bred unless special permission is given in this health guarantee for the allowance of breeding the puppy.   Otherwise, I require that all babies be spayed or neutered by the time they are 7 months old for this contract to be valid. I will need a copy of the spay or neuter report.  This contract is for the person purchasing the puppy. It is null and VOID if transferred to another person.

In the event that a puppy would need to be replaced, it would be subject to the availability of another litter from the same breeder. You will receive a replacement puppy of equal or greater value from the litter of your choosing. The only stipulation is that the replacement puppy must be the same gender and the same breed (or hybrid) unless otherwise agreed upon by the buyer and Terry’s Two By Two. is ever refunded.

Some things that might be estimated, but can NOT be guaranteed are: the final adult size, final coloring, or temperament.  I will only send a puppy the puppy is completely healthy and has no behavioral problems while in my possession. The puppy will be vet checked by my vet within 10 days of leaving for his or her new home.  If a puppy is allowed to be bred, there is no guarantee that the puppy will be able to conceive, carry the puppies to term, or care for the puppies.

If a puppy has health issues while still in the care of the breeder that would cause me to feel that I cannot place this puppy in a home, then a full refund will be provided or the buyer has the option of choosing another puppy if available or putting their deposit or money already paid toward a future litter.

For those buying one of the smaller of the Small breed puppies:

The buyer understands that the puppy being purchased is extremely small. Because of this the buyer understands additional care will needed to insure the heath and well being of the puppy. Without the proper care this breed can suffer from Hypoglycemia, dehydration, etc which can lead to the puppy’s death. This is the responsibility of the buyer. Also the small breed puppy can more easily be injured from falls or from even jumping off a couch, bed, etc. Any injuries caused in these ways is also the buyer’s responsibility. The smallest of the small breed dogs can also possibly have more joint and bone problems that will not be guaranteed against.

The smaller small breed puppy needs to be feed more often and should not be left for long periods of time. Stress on a young small breed puppy can lead to hypoglycemia and death in a very short time. I will not let a small, small breed puppy leave my home until I feel certain that he or she is ready to leave and have as little chance of stress as possible. My puppies will leave here healthy and happy and I want them to be even more healthy and happy in their new homes.  You will receive a “puppy instruction sheet” on what to do for your small puppy and what to watch for to make sure your puppy does fine.
